Tim Warner

Co-owner & Chairman

Tim is one of the leading Oracle Cloud (Fusion) applications implementation and training consultants in the UK and mainland Europe.

An industry and Oracle Corporation recognised specialist in the Oracle HCM family of products. Tim uses his in depth knowledge of the Oracle product set to maximise the benefits of the application through configuration rather than customisation.
Since 1998, Tim has provided consultancy services either as Project Manager or Lead Consultant level on many of the largest Oracle HCM implementations in the UK and Europe.

Tim is currently co-owner and chairman of Certus Solutions.

Tim has over 20 year experience with Oracle applications.
Tim is currently (2006 - *) the chairman of the UKOUG HCM SIG and a member of the Oracle HCM Users Group (OHUG) in the USA.
In 2008, Tim was made an ‘Oracle ACE’ by Oracle Corporation in recognition of his strong credentials in the Oracle HCM market and for his contribution to the Oracle community.

He has been instrumental in setting up Certus Solutions Oracle Fusion Practice and has been involved in delivering Oracle Fusion Applications training on behalf of Oracle University to over 1,000+ Oracle partners, customers and Oracle themselves.
He has also been instrumental in working closely with Oracle Centre of Excellence in the UK for Oracle Fusion Applications ensuring that Oracle themselves can provide the best support for their clients moving forward in the world of Software as a Service.
In 2006, Tim joined the H.M. Prison Service ‘Phoenix HR’ project in the capacities of Lead Consultant and Solutions Architect. This project delivered Oracle HCM to an employee base of over 50,000 within a shared services environment.

Tim has worked on many global implementation projects and is a frequent contributor and presenter to Oracle User Groups around the world.

Mark Sweeny

Co-owner and Chief Executive Officer

Mark is the Chief Executive of Certus Solutions and is an award winning industry recognised specialist in the delivery of large scale change management programmes. His knowledge and breadth of skills has enabled him to provide counsel and direction to the boards of two international software houses; a change management consultancy; central government departments (Cabinet Office, Ministry of Justice, National Offender Management Services, HMPS, Home Office, Civil Service HR, DEFRA, Office for National Statistics, HM Treasury) and overseen the start-up of two businesses. Equally renowned for his business development activities with over £35m professional services engagements closed and delivered over a 30 year career.

In 2007 having successfully delivered the Phoenix HR Shared Services Programme for HM Prison Service Mark created Certus Solutions and by 2011 had identified the wider market opportunity of "Cloud Computing". Mark subsequently positioned the company as the first UK only leading and dedicated specialist service provider of Oracle ERP & HCM and Talent Acquisition (Taleo) Cloud based enabled business transformation programmes through its engage® service delivery and ongoing support services model.

Today Certus is an Oracle Platinum Partner holding specialisations in ERP, HCM and Taleo Cloud, with a global presence and offices in UK, Australia and India.

Mark is a Fellow and Certified IT Professional of the British Computing Society (FBCS CITP) and holds and First Class Honours degree in Business Studies from Westminster University and a MBA from the Strathclyde Graduate Business School.

Rob English

Chief Operating Officer

With over 20 years of experience, Rob specialises in managing and delivering transformational technology solutions, with a primary focus on driving business improvement through the use of Oracle Cloud technology and process improvement, while serving as a trusted advisor to the leadership teams at his clients.

During his career, Rob has advised numerous companies across a variety of industries, including Telecoms & Media, Manufacturing, Central Government, Retail, Transport and Financial Services.

Rob is currently responsible for Certus’ Support and Offshore businesses and enabling customers to maximise ROI from Oracle Cloud services.

Rob spent four years at Hitachi Consulting between 2009 to 2013 where he was promoted to Vice President and joined the Global Leadership Team with responsibility for sales and delivery across their Oracle HCM client base.
Rob is well-known for his time at Edenbrook Solutions which he joined at its inception in 2001 to create an Oracle HCM consulting capability to rival the big-4 system integrators. Rob enjoyed a hugely successful time at Edenbrook winning multi-million pound projects across the UK and EMEA regions, which culminated in the acquisition by Hitachi Consulting in 2009.

Rob started his Consulting career at Oracle in 1996 delivering HCM projects for customers such as BT, Norwich Union, Legal & General, and British Energy.

Between 2004 and 2008, Rob was Chair of the UK Oracle User Group for HCM and delivered several thought leadership presentations within the Oracle and HR community. Rob has written white papers, articles for magazines and hosted industry speaking events and forums for HR leaders in the UK.

Rob is currently a Charity Trustee and Company Secretary at Pinewood Gymnastics Club in Wokingham, Berkshire.

James Ham

Chief Financial Officer

James is a Chief Financial Officer (CFO), with ten years’ public sector experience and proven skills in leadership, strategic financial management and commercial negotiation. He has managed annual budgets in excess of £300m and understands the importance of financial rigor alongside the flexibility to adapt to changing business circumstances the ability to deliver business solutions.

James has amassed a wealth of experience in negotiating, procuring and managing contracts with values over £100m and delivering outcomes to time cost and quality. He is also experienced in the use of insourcing and outsourcing solutions to take advantage of emerging capabilities, bridge skills gaps and increase the efficiency of service delivery.

James was responsible for the first procurement of Oracle Cloud ERP and HCM in a central government department and was the Project Director overseeing its implementation and the Department’s transition to a fully integrated cloud ERP solution.

Richard Atkins

Executive Vice President Oracle Cloud Applications Global Practice

Richard has over 20 years’ experience of implementing Oracle Human Capital Management solutions. He spent his early years working for Oracle as a technical consultant, before moving on to become a solution architect specializing in the delivery of Oracle HCM and Payroll solutions for over 17 years before joining Certus.

Richard joined Certus in 2012 and took on the role of Head of Cloud Applications Practice. Since joining he has been responsible for the development of this practice. He has successfully expanded the practice from a small concern of only 5 consultants to now employing 85+ consultants across HCM, ERP and Taleo product suites. The practice is now truly global with offices in UK, Australia and India. Certus is now recognised as an industry leader in the implementation of Oracle Cloud Solutions.

Richard is widely recognized as a leading expert in the implementation of Oracle Cloud Applications, being one of the first people to become certified in the implementation of Cloud HCM in 2012. Since then he has been responsible for the successful delivery of over 12 Cloud implementation projects, across both HCM and ERP and spanning global locations including UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, United States, South America, Africa and the Middle East.

Richard was also recently awarded by Oracle the title of Oracle ACE, an accolade given to only a small number of individuals globally. He regularly speaks at conferences globally, is a certified trainer who has run implementation courses and expert seminars on Cloud HCM throughout the world for multiple clients and consultancies.

Ian Carline

Executive Vice President Product Development

Ian has over 20 years’ experience of Oracle applications, specifically Human Resources Applications, specialising in solution architecture and integration.

Ian has performed a lead design authority role on some of the world’s largest and prestigious implementation. He was the design authority for the project that delivered the NHS ESR solution, which currently produces 2 million pay slips per month in a shared service centre environment. He was also the design authority for the UK MoD tri-service payroll solution, and spent three years at Network rail as the Strategic HCM and Payroll solution architect.

He is also an accomplished trainer, and has delivered Cloud applications; HCM, Compensation and Talent management classes across the world. He has been involved with HCM projects around the world, including USA, Germany, Netherlands, South Africa, Thailand and Switzerland.

Mary Thethi

Executive Vice President Quality and Testing Management Services

Mary is one of the UK’s leading experts in software systems testing and Quality Assurance, with over 20 years’ management experience.

She has helped numerous companies deliver mission critical programmes to the highest possible quality, whilst ensuring the cost of quality is always measured and in-line with customer expectations. Her proven track record includes two global insurance companies (Lombard, Gan Insurance); three international software houses (The HUON Corporation Ltd, The Innovation Group Plc, Rubicon Corporation Ltd); and to the UK public sector (National Offender Management Services; HM Prison Service).

Mary is currently responsible for Certus’ Testing Management Services.

She has used her wealth of experience to develop a number of standard testing and QA methodologies incorporating speed of delivery; repeatable processes; enhanced defect identification and resolution; and detailed reporting metrics.

Mary is often cited and is regularly called upon by leading organisations in advisory and training capacity in regard to software testing.

She was one of the original and longest serving members of the award winning HM Prison Service Shared Services Phoenix Programme, where she was Head of Quality Assurance from October 2004 – October 2008 and oversaw the delivery of QA Services to Finance; Procurement; Training and HR Shared Services project streams. As a consequence she has a wealth of knowledge of the deployment of ERP systems (Oracle E-Business Suite R11.5.10 and R12.1.3) into a Shared Services operational environment.

Ian Wood

Executive Vice President Cloud Services APAC Operations

Ian has built professional services / presales organisations from inception to self-propelled successful global teams.

In 2002, Ian was one of the two individuals who founded the Asia Pacific operations for Taleo Corporation in Singapore, growing the business to a successful profitable entity with numerous large enterprise and SMB clients across Asia Pacific culminating in its acquisition by Oracle Corporation.

At Oracle, Ian was in a management position as Director / Domain lead for the Asia Pacific Cloud Strategy team, responsible for the enablement of a highly skilled team of functional and project management professionals enabling APAC teams to deliver Oracle HCM solutions to large scale global corporate clients. He was also responsible for defining the APAC strategy for packaging the solutions and developing the delivery methodology as well as building strategic relationships with the Oracle license sales organisation.

Prior to its acquisition by Certus Solutions, Ian was the Managing Partner and co-founder of Nebular Consulting, an Oracle Gold Partner founded in 2013 delivering expertise in Talent Management solution selection, innovative design, implementation, training, support and optimisation for Talent Management solutions. The Nebular team was comprised of a number of HCM professionals with a combined HCM experience of more than 60 years. The team Nebular team is considered second to none in the field of Talent Management solution delivery across Asia Pacific

Ryan Jackson

Vice President Client Services

Ryan is an executive with a distinguished career in delivery of complex ERP programs across the globe in both public and private sectors. He has worked for over 18 years in consulting delivery roles specialising predominately in Oracle technologies.

He specialises in building and managing high performing teams that ensure programme engagement and customer success.

At Certus, Ryan delivered the first fully integrated HCM and ERP Cloud programme into Central Government. He now oversees the delivery of all engagements in the public sectors.

Debra Lilley

Vice President Cloud Services & Global Oracle Alliance Director

Debra has over 20 years' experience working with Oracle applications and specialises in Financials, Business Intelligence and end to end training. As well as her own blog, Debra is a monthly guest author for Oracle Apps Advantage blog where Oracle talks about business challenges and how they can be addressed by technology.

Debra has also written also written articles for publication in Oracle Scene, Oracle Profit and Oracle One magazines. She shares her insights through presentations at user events worldwide. Debra is also a frequent guest author for Oracle and other blogs.

She is an Oracle ACE director which is in recognition of her strong credentials in the Oracle HCM market and for her contribution to the Oracle community.

She is currently responsible for the relationship between Certus and Oracle, development, strategy and product management. Debra shares this knowledge internally with our clients and the wider Oracle community.

Peter Jenkins

Sales & Marketing Director

Peter is a veteran Sales & Marketing specialist with over 20 years’ experience with Oracle and their ever changing product portfolio. He joined PeopleSoft in 1994 when it was setting up its European operation. During his time there, he became Sales Director and was part of a dramatic growth with licence revenues growing to $50 million per annum. Global deals he managed included HSBC, PWC, Standard Chartered Bank, RBS, Daimler, Nomura and Willis.

Peter’s role at Certus, is the development of the commercial side of the company by closely working with Oracle. This primarily involves providing Oracle with details of Certus’s leading Cloud implementation programs as well as our Cloud engage services.

  • Peter has over 30 years’ experience in sales and marketing;
  • Peter spent 10 years with a leading Unix based ERP software vendor, Multi-soft. This included two years setting up the operation in Australia as well as time spent in South Africa and the Far East. The company was sold to Sage.
  • In 2000, Peter was one of the founders of New Gen Corporation, which aimed at working alongside investment companies who wanted expertise in their software company clients.
  • He provided CEO, VP Sales and turnaround roles for a variety of clients. Since inception, he has been closely involved with the growth of many companies and the sales of over 10 companies.

Julian Ford

Vice President Cloud Applications Support

Julian has spent his career in the development, implementation and support of Oracle Applications.

Joining the prestigious graduate developer programme in 1998; developing the world’s first integrated suite of enterprise applications for Oracle in Reading.

Julian moved in to customer focused projects with Oracle Consulting, as lead Payroll consultant on the world’s largest single payroll at DWP.  After working on over 21 HCM business change projects for large enterprise and public sector clients for Oracle – Julian moved to the partner community and has now worked for ten years to grow independent Oracle specialists.  With commercial understanding of building professional service companies and senior management experience across multiple territories.  Julian now heads the Certus Global Support team.

Paul Gudgeon

Quality and Testing Services Capability Lead

Paul is key to improving the quality processes used within Certus and is an advocate of improving the knowledge and working practices of his peers.

Paul’s detailed technical knowledge mixes well with the commercial awareness he possesses, allowing him to deliver effective business solutions. As a key member of Certus Solutions since 2010, he has undertaken the role of Project and Programme Test Manager for central government, local government and private sector projects.

Prior to joining the Certus team, Paul worked on several large scale projects ranging from the implementation of Oracle E-Business Suite for the NHS with McKesson; IT infrastructure transformation for the National Probation Service with Steria and Shared Services implementation with HM Prison Service with EDS, where Paul first worked with the majority of the Certus executive team.

Paul’s career in quality and test management services, spanning more than 13 years has seen him undertake varied roles within the testing discipline, from functional system test analysis to technical programme test management; defect management to business assurance. This breadth of exposure to all the different stages of a programme enables Certus to deliver comprehensive and impartial quality and test management services across an entire implementation.

Mike West

Oracle Cloud HCM Consultant & Capability Lead

Mike has 11+ years dedicated experience implementing Oracle Human Capital Management solutions with roles at Oracle Consulting, Deloitte, Logica, and Hitachi. He is now working for Certus as an Oracle HCM Consultant and Capability Lead, responsible for implementing projects; and upskilling the growing team and training them on the latest Oracle functionality.

Since 2014, Mike has been working exclusively on Oracle Fusion/Cloud HCM projects and is a certified implementation specialist in Oracle Fusion HCM and Oracle Fusion Talent Management.

At Schroders, he successfully implemented a global co-existance solution for Release 8, as well as overseeing their Release 9 and Release 10 upgrades. For Dyson, Mike led on Talent and Performance, designing a solution to manage their global requirements.

At Office for National Statistics, the first HM Government Cloud Implementation. Mike was responsible for requirements gathering, solution design, and the implementation of Oracle Cloud to replace legacy E-Business Suite and Lotus Notes systems and processes.

Prior to working in Oracle Cloud, Mike was an Oracle E-Business Suite consultant, leading various implementations (The Co-Operative / Lloyds Register / House of Fraser / North Tyneside Council / Logica / Fellowes), as well as teaching Self-Service to partners at Oracle University.
Mike is also expert in Oracle User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) solutions, personally creating the Oracle UI for a notable list of global customers including the NHS, John Lewis, Virgin Media, Stanford University, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Emirates.

Christian Schmidt

Oracle Taleo Consultant & Capability Lead – Talent Acquisition

Christian has over 7 years of experience in Cloud Talent Management, Learning Management and Human Resource Management systems

He has been working on multiple implementation as a Lead Functional Consultant as well as providing support to new and existing customers

Recent implementation projects included Oracle Taleo Social Sourcing at RFU, Oracle Fusion Performance Management Cloud and Oracle Taleo Learn at Lavendon plc, Oracle Taleo Learn and Oracle Taleo Performance at Essex County Council, Oracle Taleo Learn at Kier Ltd., TBE On-Boarding at Beazley as well as developmont of an External Careersection and establishing the HCM Cloud to Taleo Recruit integration for JT Global

Due to his vast knowledge of Taleo Enterprise and Taleo Learn, he is currently working as the Capability Lead for the Oracle Taleo Cloud at Certus Solutions.

Alex Alexandru

Oracle ERP Solutions Architect & Capability Lead

Alex has more than 12 years’ experience in support, tactical & operations, strategy & system implementation roles, covering industries such as Financial Services, Retail & Manufacturing, Distribution, Technology as well as Public Sector, in particular on Oracle ERP applications.

Alex is an expert in Cloud Applications and Technology, focusing on areas such as Financial Transformations, Solution Architecture and Delivery, Project Management, Process Change Management.

He has extensive knowledge of Cloud applications, but also on premise ERP systems. Technical skills that Alex focuses on include Financials (GL, AP, AR, CM, FA, PO, EXM, OM, INV). Additionally, Alex has general overview knowledge of HCM, FSM, Middleware, SOA, OTBI, SV, FRS as well as good SQL/DB understanding.

In his role as ERP Capability Lead, Alex responsibilities include setting the methodology, process and approach for system implementations and client delivery. He manages a practice of ERP consultants from all levels and is responsible of ensuring individual targets are aligned to corporate objectives, devise job specifications and set performance standards.

He was responsible for successfully delivering a full stack of Cloud Financials applications to one of the largest mutual insurer in the Financial Services sector.

He has served as solution delivery specialist in designing & implementing an on premise invoice-to-pay, order-to-cash and record-to-report processes for new acquired entities (brands) as well as the for supporting pan-European operations of a leading footwear manufacturer operating in Retail, eCommerce, Wholesale and Distribution.

He worked as a functional consultant in designing & implementing the invoice-to-pay process for a leading Fortune 150 firm, which focuses on Distribution and Manufacturing of electronics goods.

He also acted as a projected leader in designing & implementing a european simplified, standardized, centralized and automated expense-to-pay process as well as acting as divisional process owner (DPO) in defining the internal practices and policy guidelines for this process – for a leading Fortune 100 leading Technology firm.

Alex has an MSc Business Systems Analysis & Design, City University London and MSc Financial Management, BSc Finance, Academy of Economic Studies Bucharest.

Caroline Wilson

Caroline Wilson

HCM Functional Consultant and Capability Lead

Caroline has 20+ years dedicated experience implementing Oracle Human Capital Management solutions with roles at Cap Gemini, PWC and IBM. Now working for Certus Solutions as an Oracle Consultant and Capability Lead, Caroline is responsible for implementing projects and supporting the growing team in consultancy techniques and HR management and development.Since 2014, Caroline has been working on Oracle Fusion/Cloud HCM projects and is a certified implementation specialist in Oracle Fusion HCM.

At Lavendon Group, she successfully implemented manager and employee self-services across 5 countries for Release 8. At Jersey Telecom, Caroline was Project Manager and HCM led for the global implementation of Release 10 HCM and Time & Labour. She was instrumental in the design phase of the HCM solution for Springer Nature, a project involving over 100 legal entities in 50+ countries

Prior to working in Oracle Cloud, Caroline was an Oracle E-Business Suite consultant, in a lead role, she was involved in various implementations (MOD, Estee Lauder Companies, NHS, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, GCHQ, National Audit Office, Medical Research Council, Severn Trent Plc)

Caroline has over ten years hands on HR experience having worked both at operational and strategic levels. She is a member of the CIPD.

Sumit Malhotra

Sumit Malhotra

Oracle Cloud HCM Consultant & Capability Lead (APAC)

Sumit is a skilled Project Manager, Solution Architect and Technical Functional Software Implementation Consultant with over 12 years of experience in HCM SaaS delivery. With proficient functional and technical consulting skills in Human Capital Management Solutions, Sumit specialises in Oracle Global Human Resources, Oracle Talent Management, Oracle Business Intelligence and Integration Platforms such as Taleo Connect Client, HCM Data Loader & HCM Extracts. He has a strong track-record of successfully implementing these in local and global/multi-lingual projects in industries such as Airline, Banking & Finance, Education, Energy, Entertainment & Tourism, Food & Beverage, Government, Hospitality, Mining, Professional Services and Retail.

Having worked in Human Capital Management Systems on both vendor and client side, Sumit has a holistic perception of business requirements and can effectively translate them into technical solutions.

Sumit has previously worked as Senior Principal Consultant at Oracle Corporation and Senior Consultant at Taleo where he had efficiently delivered multiple new implementation and optimisation projects in Taleo Enterprise Edition. ​​
